Hi I ve been having a problem getting my periods like for almost 5 years now I went to the Gyani and she did a pep smee and camra scan to see if something is wrong so there was nothing wrong so I went for blood test and the doc give me tregestrel what does this do because I would like to have children in a few months time can you help please
Tregestresl is an oral contraceptive pill which if taken regularly will cause you to have menstruation but will not help you ovulate and conceive.
You will need to have blood tests to make sure of the cause of the lack of menstrual bleeding for so long. The doctor has to make sure you are not in menopause (there are cases of premature menopause that happen at an earlier age). So, some tests to do are: - FSH, LH, estrogen, progesterone, testosterone levels in the blood - TSH and FT4 for the thyroid function - prolactin
I hope this answers your query. I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.
