Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is there a reason my period has been irregular the past couple of months? My regular period usually last about 4 days with mild bleeding and cramps. 3 months ago I got my period(i think) I bled for 10 days with no cramps and it was very light . The 2nd month I got my regular period 4 days with cramps. This last month it lasted 10 days very light with no cramps.
Irregular menstruation can happen for many reasons. The first to rule out is pregnancy, thus it is recommended to have a pregnancy test. If the pregnancy test is negative, then some blood tests can be done to find the cause. These would be testosterone, DHEA, progesterone, estradiol, prolactin, TSH.
I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
