What Causes Irregular Periods Along With Nausea Upon Ceasing Depo Shot?

So ive had irregular period since i stopped getting the depo shot, but i read that i could still get pregnant because i can ovulate without menstruating. Eiither way, ive been having unprotected sex, and ive been feeling different. My discharge is differenr than normal , my breasts are larger and ive been getting lil dizziness/nausea episodes for the past 3 or 4 days. Could i be pregnant or could it be something else?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi

Thanks for asking .

I understand your concern.
Depo-Provera is intended to prevent ovulation and conception for 3 months. But the hormone activity is extended after repeat dose at next due date for repeat injection. Thus ovulation is prevented over a long period(3 years). The thing affects uterine cavity as well as ovulation.

As a result period takes 9 months to one year to return to normal and it takes as long as 2 years to conceive, after stopping the Depo shots. In this light, your irregular periods ,cervical discharge and breast changes are due to hormonal imbalance in process of getting back to normality after a big gap of avoiding ovulation.

So pregnancy is very rare at this time in your case.
But it needs to be tested by home pregnancy test after 8 days delay in menses.
For confirming /excluding pregnancy to satisfy your psychology.

Thanks and regards
