Hello,
You are suffering from
irregular periods and difficulty in conceiving. Irregular periods commonly occurs due to PID, pelvic inflammatory diseases, thyroid problems, PCOS, ovarian insufficiency, etc. Other medical conditions that can also cause irregular periods and difficulty in conceiving are birth control pills, stress, weight gain or
excessive weight loss,
ovarian cancer, etc.
You have been given Prolifen,
clomiphene citrate which is chiefly to treat ovulatory failure in female patients who wish to become pregnant. This therapy will not be successful unless the patient though anovulatory, is capable of ovulation and her partner is fertile. It is good to know that both tubes are patent. Conception depends on the
fertility of the partner also.
You and your partner together should be treated, your partner should also get clinically examined and get all the blood tests and imaging tests (if required) done. Both of you should manage stress, both emotional and physical and stay away from addiction, smoking, drugs, alcohol, etc. Get clinically evaluated, get treated.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
