What Causes Irregular Periods And Recurring Fever In A Teenager?
My 15 year old daughter has been menstruating since 12 yrs of age more regular at 13..the last three months she has been in her Doc office with fever and sore throats, she also has been off cycle...we noticed it is always when she is late for her monthly.. She takes a great vitamin..we have increased vitamin c, d, during this time to no avail. Any info would be helpful...She has not seen a gyn doc yet.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. Recurrent fever can be due to some underlying inflammatory process or infection. So it should be ruled out. Blood and urine routine examination should be carried out. In case of any inflammatory process or infection in body there will be increased Erythrocyte sedimentation rate or increased leucocyte count. Gynecologic examination should be carried out to rule out any problems related to that. Tuberculosis should be ruled out by doing PCR test also. Thyroid profile and ultrasound examination will be needed if periods are irregular to rule out problems like hypothyroidism and polycystic ovarian syndrome.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
