What Causes Irregular Periods And Spotting?

Hello I always have unprotected sex with my boyfriend but on March 5/6 my boyfriend ejaculated inside of me for the first time. Now have irregular periods and havent came on my period since December of 2013. My doctor said everything is fine just irregular. But im spotting a little bit, is there a chance I am pregnant?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Before answering your query I would like to give you some information regarding conception and pregnancy.
Conception occurs of sperm meets ovum during ovulation.
Ovulation occurs 14 days before onset of menstruation. This period remains constant irrespective of length of cycle.
Irregular periods are common in healthy menstruating females.
In case conception takes place, it is followed after approximately six days by implantation.
Implantation is characterised by implantation of fertilized ovum in the uterine wall and is accompanied by light spotting and bleeding.
The pregnancy test becomes positive 10-14 days after conception and remains positive for 90-100 days thereafter,
pregnancy can be first detected in urine pregnancy test.
You can get a pregnancy test.
If the pregnancy test is negative then you need to consult your gynecologist to find the cause of irregular periods.
Hormonal imbalance is the most common cause of irregular bleeding and it is treated with hormonal therapy.
