Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I tend to have irregular periods that are often late ( and that gives me anxiety sometimes). I had a lighter flow but longer day wise period from Jan 4-11. I had unprotected sex 12 days ago and again 4 days ago. My next period is losely( I saw losely due to the irregularities) feb 8th. Today I have some bleeding that is more than typical spotting I’ve had before. It startled me because it’s early. I’ve been bleeding on and off since the morning. It’s kinda a watery consistency. Mostly bright red, but has some dark red and very little tissue. No clots yet( I normally have lots of clots). Any reason to be concerned? Not on any meds and I don’t have any other health issues. Also I’m 30. Thank you.
The irregular menstrual cycle usually has multiple causes. Uterine pathology or infection can cause menstrual irregularities. Sometimes even mental or severe physical stress can also be the cause of it. My advice is to rule out pathology related to the uterus. Please consult gynecologist first.
Birth control pills can be used to regularize menstrual cycle, however before ruling out other causes I personally not advise to use the pills.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Hiren Hirpara
