What Causes Irregular Spotting And Menstruation?

Hello Dr. Mia, I m turning 44 next month and have experienced normal periods all my life up until these past 2 months. Last month I had light days (about 4-5 days) right before the onset of my regular scheduled period and it lasted 7days (scheduled period) and this month I had 1 week of spotting light period color red but really light flow up until the onset of a regular flow period and its still going at day 7. I m just wondering what s going on. I m in no pain, but should have stopped by now? What are your thoughts? YYYY@YYYY Thank you

Hello ma'am and welcome.

The main and most important aspects of your query are:

1. Your age: which is one that would be categorised as soon approaching menopause

2. Your menstrual cycle has always been normal, which means this irregularity is most probably age-related

Please consult your doctor who will guide you through menopause and make you feel more comfortable with your body.

Best wishes.
