What Causes Irregular Vaginal Bleeding After Taking Gynaecosid?

A friend of mine had intercourse after 6 days of her periods. After 5-6 hours of intercourse she took 2 tabs of gaynecosid. She got irregular flow of bleeding after 4 days which last for few days. After 15 days she got another period with heavy bleeding for 5-6 days. After that she has missed her periods for more than one month. Is there any chance that she still may expect to be pregnant?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The emergency pills are highly effective only for one occasion. They don't provide contraception for more than one day.

Emergency contraception pills often cause spotting or bleeding and it may be the cause of irregular periods she is experiencing.

There is a possibility of her being pregnant from other day intercourse so she can do a test.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
