Hello,
Sometimes having unprotected sexual intercourse even once can make you pregnant. It is always advisable to use birth control measures when you are not planning
pregnancy. You can use condoms, birth control pills or intrauterine devices according to your and your partner's choice of birth control method.
Even if you fail to use birth control before sexual intercourse, you can take
emergency contraceptive pill (
I pill or
Plan B) right after unprotected sexual intercourse till up to 72 hours. However, the sooner the pill is taken, the more protected you are from pregnancy. So if 72 hours has not passed since your last
unprotected intercourse, I would advise you to take emergency contraceptive pill.
I should point out here that emergency contraceptive pills are for emergencies and accidents only. You cannot make them a routine as they have very severe adverse effects.
If you miss your
menstruation or it is delayed, you can take home pregnancy test to confirm pregnancy. It is available in all medical stores. Instructions are nicely given on all packs regarding the test. You have to urinate on the indicator area of the stick and look for (+) or (-) sign indicating positive or negative pregnancy test, respectively.
Little colorless, odorless and painless
vaginal discharge during days when you are not menstruating is normal. You are probably noticing it because you are too conscious regarding pregnancy. There is nothing to worry about that discharge. It does not indicate presence or absence of pregnancy, too.
I hope this information is helpful to you. Thank you for choosing HealthCareMagic. Take care.
Best,
