What Causes Irregular Vaginal Spotting After Taking Depo-Provera Shot?

Hello Dr. I have a 4months old baby. On 30th April 2016 I had my first periods, on the same day I had injected depo provera contraceptive of 3 months. Now since 2-3 days I had little spotting so I went to a local lady Dr. She prescribed few hormone (Dubex)medicines course to be done of 21 days. She was not aware of my contraceptive injection. Pls suggest if I can start with the medicines.

Yes irregular vaginal spotting after a depo shot is due to its side effect. It is very common as depo shot is a hormonal preparation. Generally it happens in the first few shots and would regularize by the next couple of cycles.
So you are advised to continue regularly on your depo shots. But in case it is bothering you much, it would be advisable for you to go for other forms of birth control pills.

Kindly consult Gynecologist for proper evaluation and advise. Also tell her that you have taken depo shot.
