Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My aunt started on the medication, Rythmol 225mg and shortly after taking it she started acting weird. Her personality was unlike anything I have ever seen. She was very short when you would ask her a question. She is normally very bubbly and happy. She seemed depressed and very hateful to everyone around her including her husband. Could that medication have caused that? Her husband had her stop the med and once it got out of her system, she was back to herself. She did follow up with her Cardiologist but they said they have never had anyone to react like that to the medication. Please advise. CW

General & Family Physician, Dr. Maninder's Response
Hi,
I had gone through your question and understand your concerns. As per the description stated by you, it is likely that the symptoms that are experienced by your aunt are due to Rythmol.
To back up this fact, the symptoms are getting better once the medication is stopped. I would suggest not to take the medication if the symptoms are troublesome but abruptly stopping the drug is also not advisable.
I suggest you discuss an alternate medication with the cardiologist and replace Rythmol.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Maninder, General & Family Physician
