General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The pill might have caused local trauma in the esophagus and even if it is already passed in the stomach might give you the feeling it is there for a while. Also if the pill dissolves in the esophagus it might cause local irrigation and cause you discomfort.

To help you can take omeprazole and this will help reduce the acid reflux in the area that is already hurt and will help healing. If you notice no improvement with the use of omeprazole for 4-5 days or notice any worsening, please call your doctor.

I hope I have answered to your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care.
