What Causes Irritation And Pain In Throat Post Tonsillectomy?

Hi, I am a 31 year old female who had a tonsillectomy in the first week of October 2014. I was readmitted to hospital on day 5 post op and they thought it was infected, the pain was unbearable. The operation site gradually seems to have healed reasonably well but if I'm honest I haven't felt 100% well since having the operation. I can still feel a lump on one side of my throat every time I swallow and I seem to alternate between having a sore throat and an irritated throat. I seem to have to cough up phleghm a lot more than before the op and have observed blood in my phleghm on several occasions. I guess I would like to know if I will ever feel well again and if my throat will ever feel normal again? It's very disheartening to go through such a painful operation and be left feeling pretty unwell most of the time. I would appreciate nay thoughts/advice, thanks
