What Causes Irritation In The Genital Area?

Hi, I am a 76yo wh female, I have recurrent pubic irritation, no discharge. It seems to be relieved by drinking 2 glasses of buttermilk dly. My thyroid tests are wnl, checked yrly, my last fasting blood sugar was 101. I am approximately 25 lbs. overweight, I take Lisinopril/hctz 10/12.5 dly and mvi, gingko, asa81mg. I am very active and have no other known health problems. I also use zinc oxide ointment as needed. I believe it is yeast but it seems excessively stubborn. Any suggestions?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think you are suffering from a yeast vaginal infection. I don't think this has anything to do with the underlying disease since you are having normal values.

It also isn't related to any of the medications you are currently taking.

You should wash it well and dry well also. Use cotton underwear. You can apply Cotrimoxazole cream or micostop three times daily for 5 days.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
