Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Irritation In The Vagina After Taking Doxycycline Hyclate?
I am currently taking an antibiotic called Doxycycline hyclate 100mg. for a spider bite. I am allergic to Sulpha based drugs and need to know that this is not kin to the sulpha drug. I am EXTREMELY irritated in the vaginal area just as I do when given Sulpha meds and have been told to list as an allergen.
Good day and thank you for posting this question. Doxycycline hyclate is not a sulphate based drug. But you could be reacting to Doxycycline as well based on the extreme irritation you are feeling in your vaginal area while taking the drug. I think you should list Doxycycline as part of your allergens. Kindly see your doctor to prescribe an alternative for you. I hope it helps. Thank you.
