Hello i have been experiencing irritation when swallowing saliva. it dose not bother much when drinking water or anything els. there are small bumps on the back of my tung. there red in color and look slightly irritated. i have been experiencing this for 2 days or so.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain red irritated bumps at the back of tongue seems to be due to swollen Circumvallete Papillae that contains taste buds and are present on back one third of tongue arranged in typical "V" shaped pattern.. They can get red and irritated due to common causes like burning with hot foods, acid reflux, throat infection, allergic reaction, Oral infections etc.. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles, do cool water rinses and suck ice pops.. Gargling with numbing mouthwash can also help.. Take a soft diet, avoid hot and spicy food and maintain a good Oral hygiene.. Drink plenty of cool water..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
