What Causes Itchiness All Over Body?

I have all over body itching, without any sign or rash or bug bites. It has been getting worse. Benedryl used to help some but not for the last 2 days. I cannot sleep and i am constantly scratching. I have fibromyalgia and I am diabetic. What can i do to get the itching to stop?

Hi,

To stop this, we have to find out and treat the cause. Antihistamines like benadryl will give temporary relief only. If itching is mainly on flexural areas (fingers, neck, axilla, umbilicus, groin) and worse at night, this can be scabies that will drastically response to anti-scabies treatment.

But there are many conditions that causes generalise itching and it is difficult to comment from the given details alone. Since it not responding to self care and disturbing your sleep, kindly see your doctor for evaluation.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
