What Causes Itching All Over The Body?

I am a male 47 yrs old and have itch over my entire body for over a year no rashes just constant itching. Have seen dermatologist said I needed to see an allergy doctor has taken blood work and allergy test with no findings. Had a sleep study done now told to try a c pap for sleep apnea for a month and see how that helps. Have never had trouble sleeping until now itching keeps me from being able to sleep. No allergy shots or any lotions have helped. Don t know were to go from here but the itching is driving me crazy. Feels like poison ivy over my whole body but no rash.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello! Welcome to HealthcareMagic!

It looks like an allergic reaction. Some advice that I can give you are:

1) Take antihistamines orally (Cetirizine 10 mg, one tablet a day, for five days).
2) Take prescription oral corticosteroids.
3) Use Calamine lotion for local application.

Hope my answer was helpful. If you have any other question Ill be glad to help.

Thank you for the query.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
