What Causes Itching And Burning Lips Post Endoscopy?

I had an endoscopy on Monday. The following day my lips started burning and itching, all around my mouth. Still having the same symptoms, but the skin has raised around my lips. I have been using chapstick and Vaseline, but they are not much help. I know a mouth guard was placed before the procedure. Could this be the cause?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain it seems that you have got an allergic reaction to any of the medicated product that might be either used for sterilization of lubrication before the placement of endoscope and he symptoms f raised skin around the lips,itching and burning sensation seems to be due to it..
Nothing to worry, you can take anti allergics like Benadryl for relief from the allergy symptoms..
Yo can also do cool compresses over the lips..
Apply calamine lotion to soothe the skin..
In case if still there is no improvement consult an Allergist and get evaluated and he can investigate thoroughly to rule out the exact cause of the symptoms and treat you accordingly..
