What Causes Itching And Burning Sensation Around The Mouth?
I have just learned yesterday that a little guy I help take care of was diagnosed with a bad case of hand foot and mouth disease, which he has probably had for the past week. Now he has a TBI so he has always had his fingers in his mouth and will occasionally get chaffed but never had a rash so we thought it was severe chaffing. anyway even though I wash my hands and wash him well, he has been to my house and touched things that I know I did not go behind him and disinfect. I have noticed my face and skin in other areas have been super itchy but no rash showing yet. area around my mouth and chin are very itchy like a dry skin but is also burning. Can this be an early sign of possibly having HFMD? I do live in Minnesota and weather can make a difference but i m just a tad bit concerned as I am a family friend with this little guy and am close to him with hugs. thanks Roxanne

If you think that child had HFMD then it usually represents rash on hand and feet. But the child had no rash. The second thing you have itch area around the mouth and on the face but no rash on hand or feet. So it might be something else. So take over the counter medicine like tablet chlorpheniramine or tablet Levocetirizine for itching. Apply regular lotion for dry skin. Don't scratch on itchy area and if by any chance it was HFMD then it will disappear after 8 to 10 days. So no need to worry.
