What Causes Itching And Cramping In Uterine Wall After Abortion?
I had a surgical abortion about two months ago. I took my antibiotics, laid off strenuous activities for the following two weeks and did not have sex. Post abortion I have had an odd almost itching sensation inside, where I believe, the internal frontal part of my uterine wall is as well as mild cramping periodically. I have already had one period and do not feel I ll otherwise? What could this sensation be? An infection? Scar tissue? I am unsure and growing concerned.
Hi, The cramping sensation is usually due to the involution of the uterus. The cramps are also called the 'after-pains'. The itching sensation could be due to the irritation caused by the passage of the instruments and handling of the cervix as part of the procedure. Itching cannot be felt in the uterus. It could be in any part of the vagina, perhaps due to some mild infection. You may get it clarified with a speculum examination. Scar tissue is unlikely since no knife will be used in a surgical abortion. Hope this helps.
Hello dear,I understand your concern. In my opinion mild discomfort might be there post surgical abortion. As there is no fever and altered discharge you need not worry.Take panadol for pain.Relax.If still not subsiding ultrasound can be done for confirmation. Best regards...dr.srilatha
