What Causes Itching And Redness Around The Area Of Incision?
I had right inguinal surgery 15 days ago and my doctor removed my stitches removed yesterday. However the area around the incision feels itchy and red. My doctor did not prescribe any cream or medicine for the redness and itchiness. He only gave me some cream to treat the scar. Will the itchiness and redness heal on their own? Can I apply the scar treatment cream over the red area around the incision?
You have itching and redness around the area of incision is usually associated with skin vascular conditions such as hemangioma or lymphangioma. Need not to worry. It is not nerve damage rather localized damage. I would suggest you visit a physician once and get the area of damage examined. You should apply Thrombophob gel and ice pack on the site of the swelling. Sclerotherapy and laser therapies are recent treatment options available and the most effective ways of reducing it. Apply numbing gel in the local area as well. It will take two to three weeks to heal it properly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
