Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Itching And Redness On Hand After Mosquito Bite?
The mosquitos here in Texas are very bad this year and I am very prone to bites. However, this year I ve been getting the strangest bites - some while I m sleeping and others outside. I am not aware of the bite at the time and only experience itching and redness at the site (forearm, elbow and now my upper arm). Then the bite is raised and a pustule forms that eventually breaks open and oozes until it dries up and eventually goes away. I ve got a new one now even tho I am wearing repellent bracelets when I walk my dog and covering up as much as I can in the heat. Thoughts on what this could be??
The symptoms seem to be related to mosquito bites. The bites can be infected. I suggest using antihistamines such as Cetirizine 10 mg to relieve the itching. I also suggest to clean the bites and cover them with Neosporin cream to treat the infection. You can cover it with a clean bandage.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
