What Causes Itching And Swelling On The Face After Drinking Tea?

About 6 months ago I stopped taking Aleve. I no long drink anything with high fructose corn syrup in it. I have limited the caffeine and drink unsweetened tea. Yesterday I had put a caffeinated tea bag in my teapot. At work I at a piece of birthday cake. Then my face started to itch, today both sides of my nose, just above my lip on the right side is also red and swollen. I am only drinking water and melaleuca tea, some cranberry juice and eating rice. I cannot go to work at a retail store looking like this it is not halloween yet.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be an allergic response.
As of now you can take an antihistamine like cetirizine for symptomatic relief.
If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
