What Causes Itching Around The Eyes After Using Alaway Eye Drops?

I seem to have some allergic reaction to either pollen or something else. It started about 3 weeks ago and my optometrist recommended the Alaway Eye drops, Soothe Eyedrops for dry eyes, and cold compresses regularly. I’ve been doing that and it’s better, but the skin on my eyelids and below my eyes is rough and red and itchy. Is there a OTC soothing cream I can use near my eyes (not in my eyes) to help with the itchy skin? (I know I’m not supposed to use Cortisone around my eyes, but I must admit I have done it a few times.)

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It can be allergic reaction to eye drops. Consult an ophthalmologist and get evaluated. As a first line management you can take antihistamines like Pheneramine for symptomatic relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
