Hi. In my Biology course at my university, we recently tested our urine with a Chemstrip 10 SG. My results were positive for Nitrites, Bilirubin, and Urobilinogen. I have also had itching around the perineum region for the past few months. Should I go and get some blood work done or is there a simple explanation?
Nitrite usually positive in infection.... Bilirubin present in urine in case of obstructive jaundice ..... Urobilinogen present in small amount in urine, so it can comes positive .....
Here strip can give false result in various condition .... So get your urine routine and microscopic examination along with chemical tests at patho lab....
If pus cells present UTI, cystitis , kidney infection etc can be cause .... For which antibiotic course given ... USG abdomen also done as work up ...
If bilirubin positive then USG done to look for causes of obstructive jaundice ...ex.gall stone ....
So consult physician with above report and get examined.... Hope your concern solved.
