Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Itching Around The Scrotum And Groin Area?
I have a very itchy scrotum penis and groin. I haven t been with another person and it doesn t appear to be crabs. I put vicks on the area except and after the initial burning/cooling effect the itch has diminished for a few hours. Just now it is starting to return. No rach is visible. Any ideas?
Please don't use anything like Vicks to scrotum and penis. It will just have a soothing effect when applied and if you have any irritation to such products your symptoms can get even aggravated. So better stop using all of them and try to find what is causing you that problem. If you are using anything else, then it could be irritating your skin also there. To evaluate the etiology. If its due to infection, then you need to take antibiotics or antiallergic medications to subside it. You need to maintain the hygiene and wash it often when you urinate. Wear cleaned washed underwears. Maintain personal hygiene.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Archana
