What Causes Itching In Palms?

I have been taking Glucosamine Chrondroitin for the first time. I have been taking one tablet at morning and another at night. The length of time taking it is about 3 -4 weeks.I began noticing some mild skin itching on my arms and assumed it was dry skin. but the last couple of days I ve noticed that the palms of my hands are very itchy. no rash, but maybe some pinkness. Could this be as allergy to this fish based med? I have never had an allergy related to eating fish.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have itching in palms. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query , but in your case the symptoms are probably due to glucosamine chondrotin as its side effects , As some glucosamine sulfate products are made from the shells of shrimp, lobsters or crabs, there is concern that glucosamine products might cause allergic reactions in people who are allergic to shellfish. It is also not recommended for people suffering from diabetes and hypertension . So i would suggest you to consult doctor who prescribed and discuss the condition . Doctor may alter the dose or prescribe substitute . For now take anti histamine like benadryl twice a day .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
