What Causes Itching In The Ankles And Lower Legs?
I have itchy ankles and lower legs only at night for months now. I am not a diabetic, but I have peripheral neuropathy from the knees down. I am using a cortisone ointment at night and then wrapping the feet and legs in ace bandages and that seems to help. I can get away with not bandaging the legs for one night and by the 2nd the pain is fierce and I go crazy again with the itchy. I occasionally shave my legs mostly because my skin is dry. Oh, btw I m 64 years of age. Any clue doctors of the ether? I would appreciate some advice. Signed, Itchy (Mary DeGuelle)

It can be an eczema associated with poor blood supply or underlying varicose vein.
The symptoms will settle only after correcting the underlying cause.
