Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Itching In The Eyes After A Cataract Surgery?
I had cataract surgery over a year ago and my eyes itch ever since. It is always in the inside corner of my eye and sometimes drops help. I have been using over the counter wetting type drops. I have gone back to my surgeon and she says everything looks normal.
Hi, I have read your questions and understand your concerns. Thank you for posting in HCM. Most patients after having undergone cataract surgery complain of itching in eyes. This could result owing to presbyopia or dryness of eyes. I suggest such patients to regularly use tear drops at least 4 times daily or while straining for example during reading, using laptop or watching television. I also suggest patients to get a new prescription of glasses if they haven't already. However if itching is associated with redness, decreased vision then antibiotic drops should be prescribed. Wish you good health. Do post again if you have any further questions. Regards.
