What Causes Itching In Throat After Eating Avocado And Shrimp?
Hello!
Just wondering...I just ate an avacado and my throat started itching intensely! Other foods do this as well... cantalope, shrimp, watermelon and sometimes banana....are these things I should stay away from? Maybe an allergy? Anything to be concerned about?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns...
As per your complain itching in throat after eating certain foods is an indication of allergic reaction and come under the category of Food Allergies.. Allergies to sea food is a common finding and is seen in many individuals.. You should consult an Allergist and get evaluated and he can advise you to get food challenge test and RAST test done to rule out for allergies and avoid eating those foods for relief.. To reduce the severity of the allergic symptoms an Immunotherapy can be given.. As of now you can take anti allergics like diphenhydramine (Benadryl) or Fexofenadine (Allegra) for relief from allergy symptoms..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
