What Causes Itching In Throat With Cough?

I am having a problem of when I lean back that I start to get a itch in the back of my throat that causes me to cough.
I had double pneumonia almost 4 years ago and ever since then I have been coughing up phlegm mostly at night or whenever I eat.
Is it possible that I have some sort of lung damage or throat damage due to the pneumonia?

Hi,see cough while you lie down is mainly due to post nasal drip or gerd.
Post nasal occurs in case of allergic rhinitis,if you have it you can use fluticasone nasal spray it will help, and sleep after 2 hr after having meal,it will help avoiding acid reflux, cough due to it will not occur,
Pneumonia once resolved then won't cause this problem,
Hope this information helps
