Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Itching In Vagina Along With Sore Throat Post Unprotected Sex?
I had unprotected sex (vaginal/oral). The very next day I got a sore throat and a very itchy vagina with white discharge. It s been 6 days now, the sore throat lasted 1 day but I m still itching (inside). I took 4 500mg Flagyl tabs on day 5 and I m still itching.
Thank you for your query It seems that you may have an infection either bacterial or a fungal infection. I would do a vaginal exam to check for characteristic discharge and take a swab for culture/gram stain. Serially transmitted diseases need to be ruled out & treated early.
Flagyl (metronidazole) does not treat all infections and in case of susceptible bacterial infections, it may be needed for a longer time. I suggest you visit your OBGYN for further management. In case of fungal infections, treatment must be taken till all symptoms dissappear (or for 2weeks-whichever is later) and then tapered (reduced) gradually over another 2weeks.
Hope this helps. Please get back to us for further clarification. Wish you good health
