Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
for the past few months my 2 year old has complained of itching on her arms and legs and around her back. there is no rash just lots of scratch marks where she has drawn blood. when she starts scratching an area hives might appear for a short time but then they go away. is this an allergy? she has had eczema in the past but this looks nothing like excema. there is no redness, blistering, raised area - nothing to associate with eczema.
Detailed answer: Hi, welcome to HCM. Your child has itching and he scratches it so hard that marks are left behind and it appears all over the body. This appears to be acute urticaria. Acute urticaria is an allergic condition where redness and itching occurs over whole body and it subsides on taking antiallergic medicines. Also, you need to identify the allergens which might be causing this problem. Most common allergens are dust and some foods like egg. I hope this has helped you. Wishing your child good health. Take care. Regards: Dr Deepak Patel, MD Pediatrics
