What Causes Itching On Hands And Feet After Taking Buspar And Methylphenidate?

I started taking Buspar 10 mg and methylphenedate sr 20mg a few weeks ago. I have experienced some itching, hands and feet especially and after being in the sun and getting a pretty bad sunburn I broke out with several hives on my chest. They appeared after I peeled and my chest continues to be red the burn doesn t hurt but it s really red and the hives will not really disappear. Could this be a reaction to the sun and buspar and/or methylphenedate? Or just a coincidence.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The itching on hands and hives when in sun indicate photo sensitivity induced by Methylphenidate. The further dose of both drugs must be stopped and consult your doc for further guidelines. Primary relief with levocetrizine tablet can be obtained without any issues.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
