What Causes Itching On The Face, Legs And Arms?

My Dad has itching in different places on his body ( face, legs , arms ) he is of sound mind but he thinks there are bugs crawling inside of him & he is squeezing the places where he itches .. Therefore making a sore .. Is it possible that he does have bugs ?? We have yet to see one ( he has a 2nd appt with a dermatologist next week .. The first he saw 4 weeks ago told him it wasn t bugs , & gave him a med .. So he is seeing a different dr this time) He is 79 and sound mind like said, but this sounds insane to some of the family .. Help !

I agree that he should seek a second opinion if he is still having wide spread itching.

Generalized itching can occur due to different causes such as infection, liver disease, kidney disease, thyroid disease, side effect of medication, allergies, eczema.

In addition to a careful look at his skin, he may need blood tests to rule out the other causes.
