What Causes Itching On The Palms Of The Hands After Bladder Surgery?
I had bladder cancer surgery on Monday. In recovery room I began experiencing an itching in the palms of my hands -- the skin turned very red. Also I was told that my face turned very red. I still had a shunt in my arm and the nurse administered benadryl. After a short time the itching disappeared. Were my symptoms related to Rocephin that was given to me via IV during surgery? The symptoms are probably related to an allergic reaction to Rocephin.
I suggest using antihistamines such as Benadryl. If the symptoms continue I suggest using steroids.
