Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Itching On The Skin While On Rivastigmine?
I am taking rivastigmine 1.5 mg in a capsule because the patch caused itching on my skin The last patch ministered about 48 hours ago and removed because of itching in all the places I placed it. Location was changed every 24 hours. I continue to have some itching in some of the places where the patch was placed yet removed. When can I expect the itching to stop. Should I inform the doctor about the itching now?
I have reviewed your query in detail and here is my advice. The allergic rash you developed is likely to be contact dermatitis. It can take from a few days to weeks for the rash and itching to completely resolve.
Meanwhile, apply Hydrocortisone ointment (available over the counter) to the affected areas. Keep skin moisturized. Take anti-allergic medication like Cetirizine if itching is too bothersome. You can also apply Calamine lotion for a soothing effect.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Lekshmi Rita Venugopal,
