Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
First, I am also a physician (Internist). My problem is itching ears. I am on Stelara for psoriatic arthritis, so know I m at at risk of infection. I swim daily but don t have pain of swimmer s ear. I m assuming it s fungal (my Springer Spaniel and I both have this problem :) and have tried putting Lamisil cream in them, vinegar, rubbing alcohol and they still really itch!
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have itching sensation in ears which could be because of impacted wax, ear canal dermatitis and fungal infection of ear canal leading to Otomyocosis. For now i would suggest you to put two drops of olive oil once a day to prevent dryness and cover your ear while bathing. You should consult ENT specialist once and get done with proper examination with otoscope. Doctor may clear ear wax with hydrogen peroxide and may prescribe antibiotics gentamicin for a week along with corticosteroid ear drops and may remove wax.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
