What Causes Itchy And Swollen Ankles?
I need help. I developed swollen ankels. afer a period of a week, my ankles were itchy. I thought it was the stretching of my skin but developed welts. this went half way up my legs, all around. went to the doctor who referred me to a specialist. He told me I urticaria mbut no tests. now I have chronic urticaria and its all over my body. Cant help thinking I am now allergic to something but no one understands this is driving me crazy

Too find out the causative substance (allergen) you will have to observe, for occurrence of symptoms and keep it noted OR you can go to a allergy specialist and get Allergy screening test done to know about, type or groups of allergen that result in allergy. A desensitization treatment then can be followed Or you would know the details of allergens and avoid them. Till then you can take allergy pill like Allegra, this would reduce and avoid your symptoms.

Swelling and itching in ankles could be due to dry skin, scaly dermatosis, fungal infection, urticaria is a type of scaly dermatosis and causes itchiness and dryness. It is usually allergic and anti-allergics help to resolve the itchiness. I suggest you to consult your dermatologist for clinical assessment, relevant investigations and thus management.
