Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Itchy And Swollen Eyelids While Having Bronchitis?
After several antibiotics for bronchitis (1988) I was told I was allergic to sulfa. I used neomycin and polymyxin B sulfates and dexamethasone ophthalmic suspension USP this fall after what I thought was seasonal allergies became unbearable. My eyes cleared up after 3-4 days but then the itching, swollen lids and redness came back even worse. Returned to the Ophthalmologist. He gave me Restasis, but I have not used it. Eyes are better now. Could any of this be caused by the sulfa allergy? I also have asthma and drink wine. Could they be related?
It could be due to severe allergic reactions. As first-line management, you can take antihistamines like Cetirizine for symptomatic relief. If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
