What Causes Itchy Blister On Swollen Knee After An Injury?

About 1 1/2 months ago I fell on knee, stabbed over and healed well. Then knee started swelling and now have a blister where scab was, skin is a little red. No pain, just itchy. Have not been using any ointments. Is this normal. I am 70 yrs old and very active.

Hello,

As long as you have no pain while walking and climbing stairs everything is OK. The blister could be just a local infection. I recommend using a local antibiotic ointment (gentamycine or tetracycline) in order to help the blister to heel faster.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
