Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi there, I have a large bump on my 3rd and 4th toe (the bumps are facing each other/in between the toes. The skin on and around these bumps is stingy and itchy. But It s only a problem when I get into bed. It s so itchy that I find it difficult to sleep. Is this athletes foot?
Hello and thank you for using HSM. I understand your concern. From your description it does sound like a fungal foot infection (athlete's foot), however I would need a picture in order to be sure. It could also be a callus, being that is as the pressure point between two toes, and calluses do tend sometimes to be itchy when between pressure points. There is a simple way to treat both, even though they are two different conditions. Clean your feet well, dry them well and put a piece of cotton soaked in tea tree oil between your toes and leave it on with clean dry socks. The tea tree oil active ingredients will take care of the fungus, while the moisture will take care of the callus. If neither works out, please see a doctor for further investigation. I hope this helps. Wishing you all the best
