What Causes Itchy Bumps And Painful Bruise On Left Armpit?

Hi doctor. My husband has been developing itchy red bumps on his arms for the last week. He was recently around a friend who we learned later had chicken pox, but my husband had them as a child so he thought nothing of it. Then a few days ago he noticed a painful bruise in his left armpit and today is having mild pain in his left upper arm. The itchy bumps are better today, and we re not even sure if it was all related or not. Any ideas?
