Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi. I have a cluster of bumps on my genital area. Vagina lips, one side. And also by anus. They itch. They reoccur every month or 2. Was told could be herpes but they just disappear, never leaving ulcers nor scab over. What could this possibly be? Also they always come in the same area and doesn t spread.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Itchy bumps on genital region could be due to herpes simplex infection. However, bumps associated with herpes simplex are usually painful and are filled with clear fluid. Fungal infection is also associated with itchy rash on the genitalia, however bumps are not commonly formed in fungal infection. Warts also cause bumps but these bumps do not hurt or itch. A clinical assessment of these lesions is required to diagnose them. Some relevant investigations like biopsy may be required to know their actual nature and thus plan management.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
