What Causes Itchy Bumps On The Abdomen After Drinking Alcohol?

hi Doctors, I've had Hep C for about 30+ years. I also drink alcohol every week. Lately, usually the day after consuming alcohol I get small itchy bumps (like an insect bite) on my adomen that usually lasts for 36 hours. Is this a sign that my liver is significantly damaged?

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Hepatitis C and alcohol is definitely not a good combination. If you continue this it will surely damage your liver. If these bumps are reddish and look like spiders, that's what in medicine is called spider naevi, and might be a sign of liver damage and liver cirrhosis. So I would suggest to contact your doctor or your hepatologist to have your liver checked.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Koen Vermeiren
