What Causes Itchy Dark Discoloured Rash On The Outer Thigh?

i have a horseshoe shaped rash that started about two months ago. At first it was about an inch wide on my outer thigh above my knee but now i have another one right next to it and they are now about three inches wide. They are a little darker than my skin and the sometimes itch but it mostly just feels like dry skin when I scratch.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of itchy dark discoloured rash on the outer thigh which is due to allergic reaction, follicle infection, heat generation due to friction and contact dermatitis. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to take oral tablets of Terbinafine for 1 week. You should maintain proper hygiene of area. You should visit dermatologist once and get it examined and start treatment after proper prescription. Do Not touch or prick it with any sharp object. Take tablet of cetirizine 10 mg once daily for symptomatic relief from itching. Apply moderately potent topical steroid of triamcinolone acetonide 0.1% cream twice daily at affected sites. Visit dermatologist once and get it examined if symptoms of persisting. You should start proper course of medications after complete examination.
