What Causes Itchy Hands And Fingers?

I have been experiencing extremely itchy hands & fingers and sometimes my feet for the last nine months now. I have been taking Benadryl like crazy and it seems to help, but I have to take several before I have any relief. After they itch for almost an hour straight and I have scratched them so much they get sore and swollen and feel stiff. Especially my knuckles on my fingers. What can I do to get some relief ? I don t have any health insurance, so I can not afford to go to the doctors office over this. Thank you

Hello,

The possible causes are allergic dermatitis or eosinophilia or anemia or side effect to drugs etc.

Please get it done absolute eosinophil count, peripheral smear and hemoglobin status.

Also, check for thyroid status, total bilirubin and direct bilirubin may give a clue.

Use tablet montelukast and levocetrizine.

If no improvement please consult your physician/dermatologist he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
