Hi. I have a lump on the inside of my calf. I ve had it for 6-7 years. It would grow and pop(?) in the past, but the past year it s just been growing, and now it s a dark color. My concern is that today the area around it itches, and that s bizarre. Any ideas?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have itchy lump on the inner calf . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like xerotic eczema , senile pruritis , atopic dermatitis , contact dermatitis , varicose vein , baker's cyst or infestations . I would suggest you to apply cold compresses to rashes , keep it clean and dry , apply petroleum jelly on it and take antihistamine like benadryl . If condition doesn't get well then consult dermatologist for proper examination . Doctor may order certain test like skin patch test or allergy test . Doctor may prescribe immunosuppressants , antibiotics like clarithrimycinor corticosteroid ointment . Apply ice pack .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
